Titled in response to the 2000 United Nations World Report statistic which indicates that the current number of persons infected with HIV/AIDS worldwide is about 33.4 million - a figure which closely approximates the current population of Canada.
The red background represents the blood in which the virus exists. The lava lends description to the explosiveness not only of the HIV/AIDS crisis, but of our own ability to transmit this disease to one another.
The thin condoms wend their way into a segment of fingerprint, an intimation of our individual responsibility to ourselves and to one another.
The attached framed pieces present motifs which represent the power of the human spirit.
